Episode Seven
Things are really heating up about Fat Dog Lounge/Restaurant/Bar. We have the latest update on the place — but nothing’s set in stone yet. Make sure you come to the Eagle Rock Neighborhood Council Land Use Planning Committee meetings, which take place every 3rd Thursday at 7:00 pm at Eagle Rock City Hall to stay in the loop.
In this episode you’ll also find out about another “lounge” opening soon — The Loft Hair Lounge. And there are plans for the Blockbuster property at the corner of Eagle Rock and Colorado, although it’s moving slow. What do YOU want to see in that spot? Speak up on the ER Talk Message Boards.
Then you’ll meet one of Eagle Rock’s oldest neighbors — a 99-year-old woman whose been in Eagle Rock for over half a century. Also, find out about a Sunday night bowling tradition, learn everything you ever wanted to know about soy candles, and hear about another of Eagle Rock’s fine eateries from Dave Klotz, the Daily Nosh Guy.
See ya around town!

Sayonara Blockbuster !!!
I can’t wait for the day when they leave Eagle Rock and can they please knock down that horrid building too.
I’d love to see a brilliant video store like South Pasadena’s Videoteque open up in Eagle Rock.

I was about to post something highly critical, but then Dave said “April Fool’s”, and just in time…Good one, Dave…
Great episode again, ladies, as always. Came here this time after reading a post on NELA.

I remember seeing pictures of the corner of Eagle Rock and Colorado from the 1950s. Where Blockbuster is, there used to be a beautiful two story red brick building with a pitch roof that had spanish tiles on it. At that time, it was Security First National Bank. In fact in Highland Park on Figueroa, they still have a building that has the same architectural features (though now run down) that used to be a Security First (later Security Pacific Bank). But in the late 60’s/early 70’s they razed the beautiful red brick building and put the simple and plain building you have there now. Then in the late 80’s the adjacent red brick building (with pitch Spanish tile roof front) that had 5 store fronts was also knocked down and in its place was two story minimall that looks the same architecturally as the Blockbuster building.
