NELA Day of Service and NY Times Piece Postponed
The Northeast LA Day of Service has been postponed until Saturday, March 14 due to the rain.
Also wanted to let everyone know the New York Times piece about Eagle Rock that was supposed to run this Sunday has also been postponed.

Well it was an interesting article but I feel it doesn’t really take into account that this is really an indication of an overall national economic crisis. No community is immune to these down turns and our neighborhood is no different from everywhere else. The story seems to overlook some simple truths that I find disturbing. It seems the article had a simple goal to report but failed to place the facts that these are trends that cut across a large portion of our society. We all have been reading and watching the news these last few months and know that we are in an recession. The failure to place things in that context seems to me to be a bit disingenuous. What is the real purpose of such articles? How do our neighborhood stack up to the overall economy? Housing is down almost 40% since 2006, can that play a factor in our local business closing? Those are a few points which I feel the article clearly missed.
